Nationwide Studios announced it has become the first school photography and yearbook company to achieve SOC 2 Type I compliance, a major milestone in student data security. SOC 2 is an independent certification that confirms a company has strong systems to protect personal information. This includes student photos, names, order details, and other sensitive data shared during school picture and yearbook services.

“Schools trust us with meaningful moments—and sensitive information,” said Jordan Moore, Chief Privacy Officer at Nationwide Studios. “Achieving SOC 2 shows that we take that responsibility seriously and have proven safeguards in place to protect student and family data.”

This news comes as North Carolina becomes the first state to require school vendors to meet this level of security, a move Nationwide Studios says it supports and is proud to lead.

“Our work touches the lives of millions of students and families, and that trust is something we take very seriously,” said Lou Esposito, managing partner, president, and CEO at Nationwide Studios. “SOC 2 compliance allows us to offer school partners a new level of assurance that their data is safe with us.”

Nationwide Studios’ SOC 2 Type I certification was conducted by Kirkpatrick Price, a respected auditing firm, and confirms the company’s systems and processes meet high standards for data security and privacy.

And this is just the beginning: Nationwide Studios is already preparing for the next level—SOC 2 Type II certification, expected in 2026.
